I suppose now is as good a time as any to talk about the weather. I realize that it's rather awful now, but how was it during the summer? I remember there being reports of acid rain. Has that happened recently? And what about the conditions in Dissimulo? There are - or were, at least - things growing there, yes? Has anyone attempted to transplant crops to Discedo?
zombiedad: (look to your father for some support)
[When he had gone to sleep, it had been summer, his children had been with him, and he had been in Dissimulo. When he opens his eyes, it's cold, he's alone, and he's in Discedo. The second thing is what's most alarming to him, but it's all rather disturbing, honestly, and in addition he gets the distinct feeling that he hasn't even been on this planet for a while.

He turns his communicator on - slowly, feeling out of practice.
]

I believe I've missed out on something, Discedo....for example, how I managed to get back here in the first place.

[A pause, and then he sounds a little more ominous.]

And where my magic has gone, and my children. - The latter is more important. Tell me where Luke is. And what has happened here. If he is hurt, I swear...
zombiedad: (the thought of that boy)
If those in Dissimulo are in need of it, I can continue to provide conjured food and drink. Although I do hope everyone is making use of the fertile ground here. I doubt the scientists would've given us all of these gardening materials if they didn't intend for us to use them.

[He looks at the screen, and frowns a bit wryly.]

Actually, I suppose it's difficult to put any faith in the scientists' actions. But this opportunity has risen, nonetheless. It would be foolish to waste it, particularly if we manage to clear an underground path back to Discedo.

[He makes a move as though to finish the broadcast, then pauses.]

...two days in the middle of this month are blank in my memory. This has happened to us before - and yet, this time seems...different. I feel as though something positive happened.

[He looks thoughtful, and seems to invite your opinion if you'd like to share it. He has been acting rather more cheerful than usual...he gives a shake of his head and turns off the feed.]
zombiedad: (I'll never see you again)
[Having set the members of the Casa up in Dissimulo near Valley Road on the edge of town, Meryl awakens to find the communicators and streets once again abuzz with life. He'll be standing out here looking grumpy if anyone is interested in coming over.]

So this happens outside of the city as well. Is this a feature of the planet itself? But what purpose does it serve, then?

[HE FROWNS.]

But I suppose not everything manages to serve a purpose, does it?
zombiedad: (divination)
If you wish to continue being fed, I will require more assistance at the soup kitchen. I have only two assistants, and there are over a hundred residents. You need not have experience to help, simply time. Or perhaps I should make it mandatory.

[...]

Luke, Amu. I intend to teach you both how to fight and defend yourselves against attackers. We will begin next week.

[There's silence for a few moments before he speaks again, his voice sharp and dangerous.]

Megumi. You may surrender yourself to me now, or you may cower in a corner while I scour the city for you. In either case, I'm certain that we'll be meeting soon.

[A little nastily; ]

Good day to you all.

[ooc: Soup Kitchen info and sign up post!]
zombiedad: (been kickin ass since the dawn of time)
You are despicable, Discedo. You refuse to be governed, even by yourselves, and it will bring about your destruction.

Luke Triton has been absent from his home since Friday. I will tear every stone from its mortar to find him. If you thought to use him as a pawn, against me or the city or for whatever reason that cropped up in your diseased mind, you have greatly underestimated your foe. I will find him, and then I will find whoever has caused this, and they will suffer.

Speak now, and I may be merciful.
zombiedad: (and in darkness)
...I'm afraid the primary school is without its headmaster again. To all of Gyatso's students - and friends - I am sorry. I know that he would have wished you all the best...and that he would have been proud of all of you for continuing to persevere in this place.

[There's a long, painful pause, and a long, painful sigh.]

That means the soup kitchen is missing one of its cooks, as well. Please consider lending a hand there if you have any experience cooking.

[He swallows hard. It's a good facade, a wall of stoicism, but there's so much pain underneath it. Rarely had he ever found a good a friend as Gyatso was, and he knew what awaited the man back home...

A little choked up, he finishes quickly.
]

Good day, Discedo.

[click.]

[ooc: not feeling well because of a pulled muscle and stuff, so tags will be tomorrow. And I will do the other tags as well! Kisses.]
zombiedad: (apply directly to the forehead!)
To all of my housemates, everything that I've tried has so far failed to stop these damned fish from getting in. There's a school of flying ones heading up the stairs now, and I swear the ray in the living room is leaving rainbows...

[The mage trails off, realizing how utterly ridiculous he sounds. He growls, angry at himself for rambling.]

If you see them, I'm afraid I can't help you. Bad enough that Takato was injured -

[Alas, the stingrays and the flying fish are not the only fishy visitors to Casa de Meryl. An eel has been steadily heading in Meryl's direction since the beginning of his post, and it's finally reached him - ]

YEAAGH!
zombiedad: (another serious talking face)
[Casa de Meryl, easily hackable]

If there is any need for you to go outside, you will do so with a partner. If the creature comes for the house, I will destroy it where it stands.

[/Casa de Meryl]

I understand that not all are able or willing to venture outside, with a monstrous creature on the loose. I also understand that most people need to eat regularly in order to survive; so I will be coming to each of the apartments to replenish any stores you may have. Think of it as a sort of emergency delivery service.

[There's a very small amount of snark in his voice; he's not completely happy with being reduced to a mess hall cook/delivery boy. But it's what he has to do to help people, and so he'll do it.]

I'll be around shortly.
zombiedad: (let me take you on a trip)
[Log for Casa de Meryl, Flonne, and Lute]

[Due to the attack on one of the residents, Casa de Meryl's Winter Veil dinner was postponed to the 31st. Along with the whole household, Flonne and Lute have been invited as well.

The food is vegetarian, and also delicious, thanks to Gyatso. Mingle and talk as you will! There's presents as well, if you haven't gotten yours already - here is Meryl's list. Feel free to exchange others as well.

[Crickle. Crickle Crickle. It's not quite a crackle. It's too quiet, too subtle. Although it's Meryl's frequency, he's left it on the table, where Monk Gyatso is curiously watching something.]

[He's not the only curious one in the house. Footfalls are coming closer, and then Meryl's voice, slightly suspicious.] Gyatso? What are you doing?

[And if no one has noticed, there is a Santa hat on the monk's head.] Watching my present from the scientists. They call them "Mexican Jumping Beans".

[Santa hat is awesome. Anyway, Meryl is somewhere off camera still, but the frown can be inferred from his tone.] "Mexican Jumping -"? They aren't really jumping, are they?

They are; watch them and listen. [And Gyatso reaches down to touch one, but the result cannot be seen.]

[The old mage rounds the corner finally, and stands in the threshold of the room, looking rather disbelieving. And rather cranky. As usual.] ....Gyatso...why are they doing that? [Perhaps a bit of "What did you do?" stuck in there.]

It seems they do not like the light or to be touched. [Gyatso moves something on the table and the sounds quiet after a few moments.] That is what the booklet said.

The beans care about being touched. [ :||||| what is this. The only thing he can think of is some kind of pirhanna plant, so: ] Are they dangerous?

They are larvae of a moth and are not dangerous. They're only children. [Gyatso chuckles.]

[Aaaand the look of incredulity on Meryl's face is almost comical.] Children? You...they're bugs. [Just. Just facepalm. At least he's smiling at bit when he raises his head.] So you've adopted them now, have you?

[Gyatso enjoys messing with you. He's smiling and laughs gently.] So it seems. Will you bring me some water for them?

[He takes a moment to think about it, because he's not really sure if he wants to indulge bugs as kids, but....alright. How can you say no to Gyatso? His hand glows, and a glass of water appears there moments later.] Here.

[Gyatso smiles and takes the glass.] Thank you, Meryl.... O-Oh! [His eyes go wide and he looks up.]

What's...[Meryl follows his eyes up and...well, he's already pale (and dead), but if he could, he would. Above them is a sprig of mistletoe, for when Meryl tries to pull away, a zap of electricity shocks him and musses his hair.] G-gah! [WELP.]

[Gyatso has to hide his mouth to laugh a little.] That will not do, Meryl. There is only one way to escape.

Errr.....[Suddenly, Meryl seems pretty embarrassed, and even a bit nervous. He's pondering trying to get out another way, perhaps by twitching out of it.] I....

[Gyatso looks amused as he rises to his feet. He's not trying to escape, so he doesn't get trapped.] Bend down, Meryl.

W-what?! What do you...[The mage tries to duck away again, which only results in another shock. Which does, at least, make him hunch over a bit.] Ah -

[Gyatso leans up and kisses Meryl on the forehead, just barely able to reach. The communicator, left alone all this time, times out.]
zombiedad: (walk with me.)
The soup kitchen will be having a feast of sorts for the festival tonight. I've heard talk of food at the festival, as well, along with games...

[Suddenly, on his old face, a smile cracks.]

And perhaps a special surprise at the end of the night.

Happy Winter Veil, Discedo.

[locked to Casa de Meryl inhabitants, plus Flonne]

And I would like your company for our own dinner on the 27th.

Watch out for the mistletoe in the doorways.
zombiedad: (consorting)
So it is true. There are water elementals in the city now.

[Cut to a video of the port, complete with wandering creatures around the water. Meryl's far enough away so that they don't attack, or perhaps they're just not feeling aggressive today. Or he's too high level for them. Anyway, water elementals.]

But why? The presence of an elemental would indicate disruption with the elements, or perhaps a powerful mage in the area...

[...Wait. That makes it sound like he's responsible.]

Er...other than myself, that is.

[He watches them for a few moments more, then grumbles and turns the feed back to audio.]

I'll keep an eye on them. I doubt their existence signals anything good about the state of this world....hrm.

[Another moment's pause, then; ]

It will only get colder as the days pass. If anyone has need of fire magic, I am available. And for Light's sake, make sure to eat enough. There's plenty in the soup kitchen for everyone.
zombiedad: (ah....)
This....This has happened before. Twice.

What is today? The 16th? Was it the same date the last time - ?
zombiedad: (the thought of that boy)
[The shuffle and clink of the soup kitchen can be heard in the background of Meryl's post. He's working, as usual.]

A few days ago Sorata noted that our barn had not received its usual supplies. I believe the same is true for the city in general now as well. Although it's a bit early to be sure, the canned foods have become more elusive than usual.

But before we panic, remember what resources we do have. I implore anyone who is having trouble with their food stores to come to the soup kitchen. Even if our supplies are cut off, I am still able to conjure.

Hrmm...as winter comes. [This reminds him of a puzzle of last winter's superfreeze. Still, he stays composed, almost stoic. He's confident.]

Make sure to ready yourselves for more cold weather, in addition. It snows here later in the year.

[ooc: soup kitchen info (the lists are a little out of date, I will fix that tonight xD)]
zombiedad: (find the places we've got hurt)
Thomas Knowlton came to the negotiations unarmed. However, he collapsed from his illness before he could tell us the location of our fellows. I understand that they've been found, though, haven't they?

[There's a few clicking noises. He's flipping through the network, checking on his friends.]

An eventful month so far. As much as I enjoy running around and exhausting myself, perhaps we could take a bit of a break. I think we've earned it.

[...]

...Yorda....Yorda's frequency is gone.

[A silence. One of those silences where bad news is settling in.]

She's...been returned to her home? [...] She provided us with so much, and me with pleasant company....

Our food stores will not keep us long without her.

[You may now find a Meryl going to or at the greenhouse!]
zombiedad: (Ive just returned from the soft salt sea)
I have seldom seen such viciousness. They seemed never to tire, never to feel pain...their only goal was carnage. [he seems tired, and contemplative.]

They seemed confused by me, at one point. They could sense I wasn't their usual prey....hmm. This state of being has its advantages, at times. Although I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

In any case, I trust that anyone in need of medical attention has gotten it by now. If those creatures still exist in the forest, it may be necessary to find their lair and cut off the head of the beast, as it were. Better than waiting for them to come back into the city.
zombiedad: (walk with me.)
It is good to have a slight respite from conjuring duties at the soup kitchen, with the gift of food from the scientists. I'm sure some of you have eaten all of yours already, so I would like to remind everyone that the High School cafeteria has food stocked for everyone, for breakfast and supper everyday.

[In a more thoughtful - or suspicious - tone.]

I do find it curious that they allow us favors. They would not give us the favor of being returned to our homes, of course.

....

[locked to Gyatso and Layton]

I...apologize...for the trouble that I caused.

[ooc: Information about the soup kitchen.]
zombiedad: (waiting for a storm to rise)
[Cada de Meryl has been fairly quiet, hasn't it? Unfortunately, your titular homeowner is going to disrupt that. Again.

Although he's not looking much like his usual self at the moment. The man who has stumbled over the communicator is barely more than a child, pale but certainly quite alive. Age has not taken its toll on his face yet, the nose has not yet been broken, and the hair is dark and silky. And he looks very confused.

He's frowning at the communicator, and then turning away. It's not something he recognizes; 3,000 years ago he had no idea what a goblin was, and therefore he cannot look at the device and note that it's similar to their technology. Without that connection, it means nothing to him.

Instead, he wanders around the room, checks the window, the door.
]

Hello?

[ooc: SO YOU KNOW ALL THESE ICONS THAT ARE BLACK AND WHITE? WELL THAT IS WHAT HE ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE NOW. Only even younger - just around 18 or so. WOO.]
